Summer Of Love : Some Outdoor Tips

A summer wedding or event is just “the bees knees”…. Sorry….

It is a wonderful time! It sunny and warm, everyone is happy, and ready to enjoy that nice weather, maybe you have a outdoor fire pit planned for later in the evening, or a rager of a dance party.. or both! The décor can be something different you can’t do inside.. I saw a canoe full of ice, water, and beer on the lawn for guests to enjoy, and a giant Jenga set up. Perfect!

With all those games being played, dancing under the moon, flowing drinks, and tears of joy… here are some little tips that maybe your forget about at an outdoor wedding.. and I have done my share.

Make sure you have enough ice and water! That boat was amazing.. but if it’s full of warm drinks after a long day in the sun, maybe not so much. And Speaking of long days in the sun… don’t start your event too early in the day. We all love a sunny day but you don’t want your guests sweating before the party even starts!

Find some shade and take a break! Always make sure you are taking a break from the fun, sun and excitement for a moment, just as much as your guests, friends and family should be. Nobody wants to overheat and miss out on the action so grab some lemonade, or  ice water and have a chat on the porch.

Umbrellas are an outdoor must have, just in case some rain shows up for a second, some personal shade to take along….. Or that photo opportunity you just can’t miss. Another “Fan”tastic way to keep cool, and a fierce photo op, Hand Fans! They are also wonderful party favours to take home too that your guests will love! (Have a couple from previous clients myself and love them!)

Of course while you enjoy the sun with the grass under your feet… one last thing…. Sunscreen and Bug Spray! Trust me! Your guests will thank you! There have been many outdoor weddings I have been at and it was just overlooked. You’d be surprised how many friends I made having a can of bug spray.

As a wedding DJ, these little touches have impressed me! They seem simple but I wouldn’t have thought about it until I had seen it, and here’s to passing it along so you can have your next outdoor event .. Itch free.
